The Living Oceans exhibit gives visitors the opportunity to experience something of the life beneath the ocean's surface and to learn about the dynamics of this underwater world.
After climbing the stairs, you will begin an imaginary voyage past different ocean habitats from the shallow waters under a Caribbean pier down to the sunless zone of luminous fishes as seen from a bathysphere.
At the core of this descending ramp are two small rooms. The one above shows the shells of many beautiful mollusks; the one below exhibits various topics in oceanography. Other exhibits explain in more detail some of the biological communities you have seen, the physical factors that shape them and a little of the historical uses of the sea and its life.
